This finish combines 90% renewable, natural resins derived from tung oil to deeply penetrate wood fibers, creating a durable, waterproof barrier that is elastic and resistant to everyday household wear and foot traffic. It is easier to maintain than many other interior clear finishes and becomes non-toxic once fully cured and dry. Handcrafted in small batches by a fourth-generation family-owned company in Cleveland, Ohio, this finish is ideal for interior wood surfaces such as floors, windows, doors, cabinetry, furniture, and more. It also works well on porous materials like slate, brick, stone, tile, and cement to prevent chalking and dusting. Waterlox Original provides excellent adhesion to dense and oily exotic woods including teak, rosewood, and ipe. One quart covers approximately 125 square feet per coat without thinning, and the finish dries in a minimum of 24 hours between coats, with drying times affected by ventilation, humidity, and temperature.
